God has a plan to save all of His children from doom, gloom, and suffering:
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise (1) as some men count slackness but is longsuffering (2) to usward not willing that any should perish (3) but that all should come to repentance. (4) (2 Peter 3:9)
1. His Promise
What is His promise? It is found in the second half of the verse: “not willing that any should perish” – it’s God’s promise!
2. Longsuffering
The expectant wrath will be interrupted.
3. Not Any Perish
God does not want a single person to perish:
Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord God: and not that he should return from his ways, and live? (Ezekiel 18:23)
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2:3–4)
Not willing that any should perish. (2 Peter 3:9)
4. All Should Repent
There are no shortcuts when it comes to personal worthiness. Everyone must repent, but instead of bringing the wicked and the proud to their knees through wrath, God will pour out His love in a great measure at The Sign of Jesus’ Coming which will cause every knee to bow and every person to repent:
For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. (Romans 14:11)
